Accessibility to date

We understand that people have different needs, and we try to accommodate all who would like to visit Lilypod. Below is a overview of the measures we already have in place.  We are here help and keen to learn so please reach out if you have any questions or if there are any aspects of accessibility you feel we could improve on.

Digital

We have made changes to our website so hopefully it is easier for our visually impaired or neurodiverse users to navigate.

This includes streamlining content so it’s less confusing

Choice of colour and size of text and avoiding photos with text overlay

Checking for screen reader optimisation.

Checking colour blindness compatibility

We are happy to provide all information in large print.

Environmental

Due to the experience nature and location of our stay, not all areas may be suitable for wheel chair users.

Car park and pathways to the pods.

The car park has a large turning circle suitable for larger vehicles

The pathways are generously proportioned (1m wide or more) and finished in compressed stone chippings.

The pathways are well maintained and compact underfoot. They follow the lake edge contours and so meander their way to the pods.

Heron

From car park to pod is approximately 90m walk. The last 10m has a gentle decline towards to lake and onto the timber pontoon which although floating is very stable.

The pontoon is 1m wide with decking rope balustrade.

Entrance to the pod is through double opening doors (1.2m) The pod has a well laid out single space living area all on one level. The ensuite bathroom is accessible through a door that is 70 cm wide.

Kingfisher

From car park to pod is approximately 120m walk passing through a land based fire pit area and rustic seating. A shorter pontoon of 4m connects pod to shore. The pontoon is 1m wide with decking rope balustrade.

Entrance to the pod is through double opening doors (1.2m) The pod has a well laid out single space living area all on one level. The ensuite bathroom is accessible through a door that is 70 cm wide. Access to the pod is step free but does have soft inclines and depressions.

We can provide a video walk through of both our pods beginning at the car park, please get in touch to request a link.

All the major supermarkets in the area will deliver to the Lilypod carpark.

We recognise that many disabilities are hidden. If you are traveling with a support animal, please notify us prior to booking so we can assist you in selecting the most suitable accommodation for your needs.

Social

If you would like to be checked in to your accommodation by a member of staff rather than the self check in video, please get in touch and we will arrange it for you.

Key members of our team have completed the NHS Disability Matters training course.
