Kyle and I were feeling warm and fuzzy as we checked our Friday guests into the pods this week.
Lapwing was hosting family friends who supported us with the build of our gorgeous third pod, and we’re delighted that they’re now getting to experience what they helped us create. ❤️
Heron was home to returning guests, back to celebrate a 40th birthday and bringing friends to stay in Kingfisher too — despite the forecast looking decidedly wet and windy!
We’ve also just had guests book a January stay because they want to know they’ll have a peaceful retreat to hide in after Christmas when the weather is dismal and grey.
It reminded me that Lilypod is a very weather-proof stay, despite being rooted in nature and the outdoors. In fact, the last time Kyle and I stayed ourselves, it was February and we were scraping frost off the canoes for an early morning paddle on the lake!
What we’ve created is in effect a floating piece of art: a space that immerses you in the natural environment while keeping you warm and dry, yet still able to enjoy the sensory experience.
The warm wood and geodesic dome construction are beautiful to look at from inside the pod, while the skylight and large windows mean you can see the skies and lake views even when tucked up in bed – feeling the gentle bob of water beneath you, reminding you that you’re floating.
And if it’s absolutely pouring outside, there’s no need to step off the pod for anything. Slip out of bed for a hot shower, put some tunes on the Bluetooth speakers, whip up breakfast in the little kitchen, then snuggle into a beanbag with a good book – or rope your partner into a challenge match of Scrabble!

For the hardy, swimming in the lake when it’s raining is cathartic and invigorating — and the feeling you get afterwards, post-hot-shower, curled up by the log burner, skin tingling and stress forgotten, reminds you to be fully present in the moment.
I’m slightly less hardy in that respect – preferring to be the one staying on the decking, clutching the dry-robe in one hand and a G&T in the other. 😉🍸
